Crispin de Pass: Marigold

Crispin de Pass included several kinds of marigolds among the 104 engravings in Hortus Floridus (1614). This one he identifies at the "Great African Marigold with full, or many petals". He writes:
It displays itself at the end of autumn, and endures until the winter. A tall and errect plant, it rises to five or six feet in height, with branches, leaves, root and seed closely agreeing with those of the Lesser African Marigold.
